June 2025 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As the summer unfolds, we’re taking a moment to reflect with gratitude and excitement on the progress we’ve made, both personally and professionally. The movement for psychedelics and cannabis law reform continues to gain momentum, and we’re honored to be part of it alongside so many inspiring clients, collaborators, and advocates.

We’re delighted to share several exciting updates from the Feldman Legal Advisors team:

1. A Joyous Occasion: David Feldman's Wedding in Formentera

We’re thrilled to share that our founding partner, David Feldman, recently tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony on the idyllic island of Formentera, Spain. It was a celebration full of love, laughter, and sea breezes. Congratulations to David and his partner, Siki, on this wonderful new beginning!

4. Major Policy Win: Texas Passes Ibogaine Research Bill

In a historic move, Texas has passed Senate Bill 2308, signed by Governor Greg Abbott, creating a framework to support ibogaine drug development clinical trials aimed at treating opioid use disorder, co-occurring substance use disorders, and other qualifying conditions.

The law enables the formation of a state-recognized consortium—comprised of a drug developer, a hospital, and an institution of higher education—to seek state funding and FDA approval for ibogaine-based therapies. The lead institution will administer the program and submit detailed trial proposals to the state, including plans for trial design, safety, access, and long-term care. The legislation ensures that Texas will hold a minimum 20% equity stake in any resulting intellectual property. A portion of that revenue—25%—is dedicated to supporting veterans' programs.

This law marks a significant advancement in psychedelic policy and biomedical innovation, positioning Texas at the forefront of state-backed psychedelic research.
